A nursing home in Canada was hit by a deadly fire on Thursday morning, nytimes.com reported. At least five (5) people were found dead while 30 were missing.


The fire struck the seniors' home in L’Isle-Verte, Quebec, where victims were identified as mostly aged about 80-years or older.

The nursing home Prime Minister Stephen Harper told media:

We can keep a bit of hope, but in reality there seems to have been a considerable loss of life

The structure has three storeys, with some portion made of woods.

The cold weather prevented the fire fighters from rendering help effectively.

Toronto's TTC made it possible for the city's streetcar to return back on operation on all routes.

Toronto Hydro reports that about 225,000 consumers are without power. It is hoped that by Wednesday, everything will be back to normal.

Transportation Services Division - about 100 traffic signals are not working, while the following roads are closed to traffic:

1. Old Kingston Road from Military Trail to Manse Road
2. Military Trail from Old Kingston Road to Bobmar Road
3. St. Andrews Road from Meldazy Drive to Suraty Avenue
4. Colonel Danforth Trail - Bonacres Avenue to dead end
5. Highview Avenue at Lillington Avenue
6. Pinegrove Road at South Edgely Avenue.

According to Toronto police, they were able to recover a video showing allegedly Rob Ford, the city's mayor, smoking crack cocaine. The material was said to have been taken from a computer seized from a certain drug raid sometime this year.
Mayor Ford vehemently denies the accusation, saying there is no such kind of a video.

On the other hand, Toronto police chief William Blair said he is sure that the mayor appeared in the said video.

While there is not in the video that can push Ford to face criminal charges, the act was simply inappropriate and disappointing.

During an interview, Mr. Ford said he has no reason to resign as a mayor.

I have no reason to resign 

I’m going to go back and return my phone calls. I’m going to be out doing what the people elected me to do and that’s save taxpayers’ money and run a great government that we’ve been running.

Ford wishes he could defend himself but sadly, the case is already with the courts.
