Van Damme splits in between two moving Volvo trucks [Video]

Have you seen the latest Volvo FM truck video commercial with Jean-Claude Van Damme splitting in between two moving vehicles? Guess what? He's on-board two Volvo FM Trucks! It was made to show off Volvo trucks' "new dynamic steering system".

To make a little but daring twist, the trucks were set to run on reverse, gradually splitting while Van Damme stretches his legs, emulating his signature martial arts act - splitting.

While some viewers threw questions on the production of the act in the Volvo truck commercial, Volvo said, it was real, as per confirmation given by Anders Vilhelmsson, public relations manager for the Volvo Trucks brand.

The stunt is real and is performed in just one take 

It’s a daring stunt but we had full control. There was never any real danger involved.

The truth is, Van Damme was secured on a hook with safety lines but were hidden in the final version of the film.

The new steering technology employed on the Volvo trucks is a brilliant fusion of conventional hydraulic powered steering assisted by an electric motor attached to the truck's steering assembly.

The electric motor receives 2000 signals per second from the truck’s on-board sensors, allowing for more precise steering, according to Vilhelmsson. He said the steering system offers a more relaxed and ergonomically designed experience for truck drivers. (Source)
