5 pastors killed in Sorsogon road accident

This news just got in! At least 5 pastors died due to a road accident in Juban town, Sorsogon. The church leaders were on the way home, coming from a humanitarian work in the typhoon-hit Leyte.

The van ridden by the pastors was traversing Daang Maharlika Highway in Sitio Hoyon-Hoyon, Juban when the accident happened. The vehicle collided with a Fortune Star bus, head on.

Philippine National Police spokesperson in Bicol, Insp. Malou Calubaquid said, the fatalities include the drivers of the two vehicles, identified as Rosalito Malig, 56 (van driver) and Danilo Montefalcon, 50 (bus driver).

The four passengers of the van were Alfredo Manansala, 46; Jaime Malabanan, 47; Levy Erasga, 57; and Vicente Clarito, 61 - all pastors and members of the Calamba Pastor Alliance.

Initial information reveals that the van driver might have fallen asleep then lost control of the vehicle. It swerved to the opposite side of the road, then collided with a bus bound for Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Meanwhile, five passengers of the bus sustained injuries and are now being attended medically at the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital. The said passengers were identified as: Ronalyn Dosa, 19; Alvin Ruiz, 21; Angelika Pagasertonga, 33; Boy Navarrosa, 52; and Analiza Macapanas, 33.
