Former QC mayor and Congressman Ismael Mathay Jr. passed away

Due to cardiac arrest, former Quezon City mayor and Congressman Ismael Mathay Jr passed away on Dec. 25 (Wed). The news was sent as a Tweet by Thelma S. San Juan, a lifestyle editor of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Former QC mayor mel Mathay had cardiac arrest, then was rushed to the hospital. It was sudden, acc to family.

The then Mayor was brought by his family to The Medical City in Pasig City after a "sudden" cardiac arrest but sadly, it was his time to bid farewell.

Mathay served as vice mayor of Quezon City in 1967. He also became a representative of Quezon City's 4th district from 1988-1992. He then served as QC mayor for three terms, covering the years 1992 to 2001.

Mathay died at the age of 81.

Rest in peace former mayor Mathay.
