American wakeskater Brian Grubb and Dominik Preisner of Germany spinned off a stunt at the ancient rice terraces in Baguio Philippines on Sunday last week. After uploading it on Thursday, the video quickly spread online like fire, prompting various comments and reactions from Filipinos.
Grubb said, he thought of the wakeskating paradise when he saw the back of a Philippine 1,000 peso bill.
I noticed that on the back of the bills here, you could see all these rice terraces and tonnes of waterAccording to Augusto Villalon, president of the Heritage Society, a world heritage property should not be exploited.
On the other hand, Red Bull, declared sponsor of two wakeskaters defended the event by assuring that respect for the environment was really a priority right from the beginning of the project. The company said the team who handled the activity assured that no plants and wildlife have been damaged or disturbed in the process.
Here's the "Wakeskating the Eighth Wonder of the World w/ Brian Grubb" video uploaded by Red Bull:
Some say, the stunt should not have been done at the world heritage site. It's an ancient creation and was built for the purpose of growing rice for the people of northern region.
What is your take on this wakeskating stunt at the Banaue rice terraces by the two conservationists?
