Skyway Accident: Don Mariano Bus fell off skyway near Bicutan, 22 dead

Skyway Accident -- A Don Marinao Bus bound for Pacita fell off Skyway near Bicutan, Taguig on Monday at around 5am.

At least 22 people died (Red Cross)  in the gruesome vehicular accident involving a bus unit (UVC 916) of Don Mariano Transit Corp.

The buss fell into the west service road of South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) south bound lane.

Further reports say, a van with plate number ULX 874, with 2 people on board was crashed after the bus fell on top of it. The van's driver died on the spot, while the passenger sustained wounds.

Another motorist driving a car with her son, said she was overtaken bus the Don Mariano bus. Few seconds later, the bus fell off the Skyway. The car driver identified as Irene Sisperez said, she was driving at 80 kph. The Skyway implements a maximum of 80 kph speed for buses.

Sisperez told DZMM:

Nag-overtake sa akin ang Don Mariano bus. Nagku-kwentuhan kami ng anak ko, sabi ko 'tignan mo itong bus na ito hindi marunong sumunod.' Ang speed ko 80 (kph) eh, nag-overtake siya sa akin so ang estimate ko 100 to 110 kph (ang bilis niya)

Ilang meters pa lang, nakita ko biglang nahulog ang bus. Walang ibang sasakyan, ako lang talaga ang nasa likod niya eh. 

It's a sad and sorrowful morning for the family of the passengers who passed away early morning of Monday.

The road mishap caused heavy traffic in the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
