There are two big flagships looming on the horizon in the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC M8. However, it appears that neither device will land on shelves in the month of February. That means that, for the moment, users will find some familiar faces when on the hunt for a new device and here, we pinpoint the five devices that we feel represent the best of the best when it comes to Android.
As expected January was almost dead silent. We did see one major smartphone get released in the T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1s, but other than that, there weren’t very many blips on the radar. At the moment, consumers are currently caught in the calm before the storm, a time between past launches and major launches to come.
Last year’s crop of smartphones continue to dominate the landscape though from the looks of things, they will get replaced soon. Rumors point to HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 launches taking place within the next few weeks, possibly in March. It’s these two launches that will likely demote the Galaxy S4 and HTC One from flagships to budget options.
For the moment though, the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 remain solid smartphones and in our opinion, among the best Android smartphones on the market right now.
We understand though that there are plenty of people that can’t wait. Whether it’s a broken smartphone or a sudden influx of money, there are those that simply will need to buy a new device during the month of February.
While there won’t be many new smartphones, there are still plenty of quality options to choose from and in an attempt to make the lives of smartphone shoppers easier, we want to narrow those options down.
Here, we offer up the devices that we consider to be the five best Android smartphones for the month of February, 2014.

Google's Nexus 5 is one of the top Android smartphone options on the market for the month of February and for the foreseeable future. The Nexus 5 combines a number of solid attributes including a fantastic display, solid durable design, camera that was improved with the release of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and quick updates directly from Google. Best of all, it's extremely cheap for what it is. The current Nexus smartphone is available on the LTE networks of AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile and it will be available well into 2014 as Google typically releases on Nexus smartphone per year. | ||||||
