The air crash, according to an official at Tribhuvuwan International Airport in Katmandu could be due to the bad weather; The plane did not have de-icing equipment, the officer said.
The airline crash happened at around 1 p.m. near Arghakhachi.
This tragedy has been considered as among the devastating airline accidents in Nepal. Looking at the burning wreckage, the passengers could hardly be rescued.
Some passengers of the said airline were identified as:
- Manab Sejwal - president of the Jumla chapter of the Nepali Congress party
- Gauri Kathayat- journalist
- Deepak Shrestha - army official
- D.P. Upadhyay
- Dr. Bikalpa Pokharel
- Barsha Hamal and her son Deep Hamal
- M. Mathiensen - Danish national
The airplane that crashed on Sunday is a 19-seater Twin Otter of Nepal Airlines. It took off from Pokhara airport at 12:40 pm.
