New benchmarks that are allegedly for the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5, a device that is supposedly launching in just a few weeks, have managed to make a mess of Galaxy S5 rumors today, thanks to the feature that are listed on board.

Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have been swirling for weeks now as they attempt to put together a list of features and dates for prospective Galaxy S5 buyers ahead of the actual launch. A Samsung Galaxy S5 launch is rumored to be just days away and while features have begun to firm up, a new alleged benchmark has emerged and made a complete mess of things.

The benchmark in question is an AnTuTu benchmark from HDBlog.it, an Italian publication that has leaked accurate Android information in the past.

It claims that it is in possession of a benchmark for what could be a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5. While they cannot confirm that to be the case, the device does post an extremely powerful benchmark score that tops that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. In our review of the Galaxy Note 3, we deemed it Samsung’s most powerful smartphone, so, there is a chance that the device listed in the benchmark is the Galaxy S5. Flagship smartphones are always powerful devices.

What we do know is that this benchmark has thrown Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors into a bit of disarray ahead of launch due to some of the features listed on board. Galaxy S5 rumors have asserted that the device will have a QHD display, or, 2560 × 1440 pixel resolution. A recent report from The New York Times threw this feature into question and the benchmark seen here utilizes a 1080p display, not a QHD display. An early benchmark for the SM-G900A, a device believed to be a version of the AT&T Galaxy S5, featured the same 1080p display.

The processor listed here is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and not a Snapdragon 805. Rumors have insisted that the device will run the Snapdragon 805 and quite possibly, a Exynos 6. This benchmark says otherwise and it agrees with respected KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claimed that the Galaxy S5 would utilize a Exynos 5 and a Snapdragon 800. The device also, oddly enough, sports 2GB of RAM and not 3GB of RAM.

There also seem to be a few sensors missing from this device including a temperature sensor. This is extremely strange given that the Galaxy S4 used a temperature sensor and given the rumors that suggest that Samsung could be releasing another health related accessory for use with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The benchmark also possesses some of the features believed to be on the Galaxy S5. A 16MP camera, which has been rumored virtually nonstop for months, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have pointed to two Galaxy S5 variants, one premium and one budget, but this benchmark does nothing to clear that up as the device in question is not pictured. It’s also possible that this is simply just an early prototype of the Galaxy S5, or, a completely different device altogether. We felt it had enough in common with the rumored Galaxy S5 to share.

Of course, we consumers probably don’t have much longer to wait before Samsung showcases the Galaxy S5 and its features.

Earlier this week, Samsung sent out invites for an Unpacked 5 Episode 1 event that is set to take place on February 24th at the start of Mobile World Congress. While Samsung itself has not confirmed what it will be announcing at the event, The New York Times claims that it will be the Galaxy S5 that makes its debut.

The publication also claims that Samsung will debut the Galaxy Gear 2, a device that has been rumored to include a flexible OLED display, something that could potentially impact its design.

Historically, Samsung has released its flagship Galaxy S just a few weeks after its announcement and currently, Galaxy S5 release date rumors point to a date within the month of April. A specific date has not yet been rumored.
