US Winter storm changes direction: South to North

Southerners were swept by power outages, traffic jams, and canceled flights brought by the winter storm in the states.

The trees in the South went ice-laden, including the driveways and other public infrastructures. The days continued to pile up snow in the metropolises like Philadelphia, Washington and Boston.


The winter storm claimed at least 12 lives in the South, and on the transport side, close to 5,000 flights had to be cancelled, according to the data revealed in the website flightaware.com

To curb the situation caused by the weather:

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the New York City area’s three major airports are bringing in extra staff to help out during the storm

Flooding is also feared during high tides from Delaware to Maine.

On Wednesday, motorists around Raleigh, N.C. succumbed to heavy traffic jams. Many cars were even left on the streets.
