It is feared that if a Mexican-like drug cartel would flourish in the Philippines, drug related murders and war would become a common scene, the same with the drug gangs openly fighting with the policemen in the streets.
Drug trafficking and pushing will become common trades in the Philippines.
In a rather alarming news, just recently, Philippine's Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was able to catch a drug suspect identified as Gary Tan following a raid in Batangas (Lipa City). Among the confiscated items were 84 kilos of shabu worth P420 million. Reports say, the drug selling activity could be linked to the Mexican Sinaloa drug syndicate.
According to PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. during a press conference in Camp Crame:
We have monitored Chinese drug syndicates, then West African drug syndicates. Now we have confirmed that the Mexican Sinaloa drug syndicate has also penetrated the Philippine marketAt the moment, PDEA and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are working hand in hand to monitor the operation of the drug syndicates.
The Philippine authorities are still figuring out how the 'Mexican drug cartel'-like operation got in.
For the possible lead, Sinaloa cartel is considered as the largest illegal drugs syndicate in the the US. It's leader identified as Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is now the no.1 most wanted drug traffic in the United States. (Photo: theredphoenixapl.org / News source 1, 2)
