Madonna came under fire after her over 1M followers on Instagram saw her post, a photo of her son 13-year-old Rocco with the hashtag "disnigga".

People found the singer's tag a racial slur; Her followers then berated her.

In a statement Madonna issued on Saturday, it says:
I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the 'n-word'
It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There's no way to defend the use of the word.
The controversial photo accompanied by a 'racist' hashtag was eventually removed from Madonna's Instagram account. She then re-posted the same material with a new caption "Ok, let me start this again."

The photo was removed again, then a statement came after, saying:
forgive me ..It was all about intention ..It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white.
I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression.
Meanwhile, in another Instagram post in early January, Madonna posted a picture of Rocco with his friends posing with bottles of alcohol.

Madonna stated:
No one was drinking, we were just having fun!
Calm down and get a sense of humour! Don't start the year off with judgement!
