Cupcake Business of 11-Year-Old Chloe Stirling scrutinized by health officials (Illinois)

It's been two years since Chloe Stirling, an 11-Year-Old entrepreneur started her 'Hey Cupcake' home business; It is somewhat shuttered after Illinois Health Officials said, the sixth-grader wasn't in compliance with local laws.


Chloe was informed by health officials in Madison County to better buy a bakery or build a separate kitchen of her own if she wants to continue selling her cup cakes.

Stirling started a great fortune in baking out of her family's kitchen in Troy, Ill. and it has been a success. Perhaps due to increasing popularity, the kid's thriving business alerted the health officials to butt in, and see if some regulations or laws are being violated or actually complied with.

Chloe told ABCNews.com:

It bummed me out because I wanted to keep baking

I had a bunch of orders and they said I had to cancel them all.

Stirling charges $10 for a dozen cupcakes and $2 each for a customized treat. She's obviously happy and enjoying what she does, her own special forte.

It felt good because with all my money I could buy stuff I wanted and didn't have to wait until my birthday or Christmas

Hopeful that her daughter can be accommodated to pursue her entrepreneurial spirit, Chloe's mother told ABCNews.com:

This is her niche. You have kids who are good at baseball and soccer and this is what they pursue

Chloe is one of a kind. No one else does this at her age. There are a lot of hoops we're going to have to jump through.

However, the Madison County Department of Health assured that the laws are being applied uniformly and without colors of discrimination.
