Google quotes Olympics charter via Doodle of the day

Google featured Olympics charter in its Doodle for today, in view of the start of the winter Olympics in Sochi city, Russia.

The Olympics charter reads:

The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

It is viewed that today's Google Doodle is the search engine giant's way of airing its protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin's campaign against gays, which actually triggered extensive discussions on how Russia would deal with gay athletes playing in the winter games.

The Doodle comes in a rainbow of colors, representing gay pride.
